Prompt information and action
It is
particularly important for us to inform students promptly when routines change
due to new requirements. We already managed to do this during the first hard
lockdown, when we promptly adjusted the structure of lectures and implemented a
hygiene concept that we still adhere to today. "accadis Hochschule reacted
to the situation immediately and provided ongoing information about new
measures. A hygiene concept was developed very quickly and lectures initially
took place with social distancing and masks in order to maintain the personal
atmosphere," emphasizes student Jacqueline. Due to stricter measures, we
soon switched to more online lectures in small groups. "This allowed for
questions to be asked, which the lecturers always responded to. There was even
additional video and text material," adds student Emil.
Lecture online, but with a personal touch
By spring,
we had already minimized the number of students on site to such an extent that
they still maintain the necessary distance in lectures. Everyday masks are a
matter of course. Our lecturers have put a lot of effort into adapting their
lectures to the online structure. This is well received by the students.
"The lecturers made the online lectures enjoyable, and I personally never
had the feeling of being lost or missing out on anything'. Questions and
comments were always welcome during and after the lecture," says student
Melina.
Structured day thanks to online lectures
No studying, no student job, no sports after
class - students at many universities not only lost their daily routine, but
also have had to make up exams and seminars after the pandemic. At accadis
Hochschule, we guarantee plannability. "Through online lectures, which,
nevertheless, take place via live streaming, you still have a regular daily
routine, in contrast to many other students," says student Ina. "I am
especially grateful that everything has continued as scheduled (but online, of
course). There are no shifts in the curriculum. We've been able to write exams
in person at the university under a strict hygiene concept."
The asset - the online graduation ceremony
As a
university with a very personal approach, we are concerned that students have
as much student life as possible, even during a pandemic. Via email and phone,
as well as on-site while adhering to hygiene rules, Student Services and
Examination Office staff answer questions related to student life. In a rare
treat, the Class of 2020 graduates had to forgo their graduation ceremony.
"Special praise goes to all those responsible who, despite the current
situation, managed to organize a unique online graduation ceremony so that we
could still have had a nice closing ceremony, appropriate for the
circumstances," says graduate Myriel.
Optimism for the future
The year
2020 has shown us that we can offer our students a predictable course of study
and a safe place to study, even under great challenges. With this knowledge, we
