Careers start with conversations – and there were plenty of those at this year's accadis Career Day: Around 200 students from accadis Hochschule Bad Homburg took the opportunity to network with 19 renowned companies from a wide range of sectors – from international tech corporations to the German Football Association. The first job offers were made on the day of the event, and over 80 individual interviews were conducted – many with promising prospects.
Networking on equal terms
Whether it was a working student job, career entry or internship – Career Day 2025 provided students with a practical platform for personal exchange with renowned employers. Among those present were SAP, Samsung, Mattel, EY, Lidl, Commerzbank, Sportfive and the DFB. Numerous companies have been participating in the format for years. Particularly pleasing: former accadis students were also present. Among those present were SAP, Samsung, Mattel, EY, Lidl, Commerzbank, Sportfive, and the DFB. Particularly gratifying: former accadis students who themselves once launched their careers through Career Day returned to campus as company representatives.
Impetus for strategic networking
Two accadis alumni with impressive careers provided inspiring food for thought: Birgitta Oltersdorf (Microsoft) – joining from Sweden – emphasized the importance of visibility and targeted networking. For example, in her 30-year successful career with positions at KPMG, IBM, and Microsoft, she only had to write one application. Jonathan Kreis (Google), who traveled from Dublin especially for the event, encouraged students to remain open to new paths – beyond established industries or dream employers. The central message from both speakers was that careers are built on relationships – often years after the initial contact.
Compact, interactive, practical
The program was clearly structured: in two rounds, the companies first presented themselves in short company pitches, followed by a job fair and subsequent interview slots. Among others, KEYENCE, valantic, Severn Consultancy, GHK Management Consultancy AG, Born This Way Agency, Viatris, memox, and Urban Heroes introduced themselves to the students.
The program was supplemented by practical business talks: topics such as “Cash & Society,” “Application Tips for Starting Your Career,” and “Business Coaching for Students” offered valuable guidance. Perfect organization – micromanagement pays off
Behind the smooth running of the event was the well-coordinated organization team led by Prof. Dr. Andrea Hüttmann and Alina Weber. Since 2022, the two have jointly organized the accadis Career Day with great commitment and success. They were supported by student assistants who acted as personal contacts for the companies.
“A great day – intensive discussions, busy exhibition stands, and already the first job offers. Our micromanagement in the run-up to the event paid off. The Career Day was once again a complete success,” said Prof. Dr. Andrea Hüttmann.
