For several years, accadis Hochschule has been cooperating with the DFB due to its expertise in teaching and research in the field of sports management.
Already three years ago, Prof. Florian Pfeffel, President of accadis Hochschule and Head of accadis Sports Management Research Group, presented the first results of the team management study during the DFB's Leadership Festival. The basis was a survey conducted by the accadis Sports Management Research Group among the DFB's team managers as well as those of the 1st to 3rd Bundesliga and the erstwhile Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga. The results provided the first milestone for the development of the team management certification program.
Certification program to be presented at DFB Team Management Meet-up
During the Team Management Meet-up on November 18, 2021, where the team managers of the 1st to 3rd Bundesliga and the FLYERALARM Women's Bundesliga met, Prof. Florian Pfeffel and Georg Behlau, Head of Management of the DFB National Teams, exclusively presented the certification program. Providing impetus for team managers
Team managers are seen as the interface between the team, the coach, the functional team, the club administration and external service providers. Their tasks are complex and make a major contribution to the success of professional teams. Former professional soccer players, such as Oliver Bierhoff, often take this path as a second career, as they contribute valuable experience for these tasks. This is where the Team Management Certificate comes in, offering impulses for further development and a platform for exchange.
Acquisition of the certificate guarantees a well thought-out skills portfolio
In the six modules Team Management in Modern Professional Football, Marketing and Media, Leadership, Future Skills, Organization and Events, and Communication, participants learn from experts from the football business and sports management research. Robert Hattemer, long-time accadis professor, will contribute his profound leadership knowledge. In addition, key skills that will become increasingly important in the future, such as digitalization, sustainability and integrity, will be taught. The current and future team managers thus acquire know-how directly from the sidelines with that special academic touch. With the certificate, the DFB has a clear goal in mind: the continuous development of team managers as the key to the success of professional teams.

The program will start in March 2022, with teaching taking place in the new DFB Academy on the former site of the Frankfurt horse racing track. If the academy cannot be occupied by then, accadis Hochschule will make its lecture rooms available.
